OAKLAND — The girls junior varsity volleyball team lost its season opener to Bishop O’Dowd Thursday evening.

The two-set, 25-15, 25-14 defeat marked a tough start for the junior Bulls, with loose balls and weak points on offense. The JV team has room for growth as the 2022-23 season begins.

Alexandra Sebastiani, a freshman, noted Bishop O’Dowd’s strong audience.

“Their fans were strong, with a full student section,” she said. “Branson needs to bring it when we have a home game.”

But she said the team has potential, adding that the skill level of the team will grow.

“A couple of us haven’t played before. It’s hard to get everyone up to the same ability.”
