Boys golf improves to 3-0, looks ahead to Archie Williams matchup

With the launch of the spring sports season, the Branson boys golf team pulled off an impressive victory against Tamalpais on Friday afternoon.
The team’s victory was all the more remarkable given the challenging course conditions following a rainy week and the strong showing by Tam’s team. The Bulls, however, kept their cool and made some incredible shots, taking advantage of the opportunities presented to them.
“The rain definitely didn’t help but we wanted to take on the challenge,” said Ryan Herbst, a senior. He added that the team was excited to kick off the MCAL season against a strong team.
One standout performance was from Aria Saluja, a junior, who displayed great skill and confidence with two consecutive birdies on holes six and seven. His accuracy and knowledge of Branson’s home course helped assert the team’s win.
“I’ve been practicing at Peacock Gap for a while and feel like I know the course’s layout pretty well,” Saluja said. “I’m happy I had a good day against Tam and that we came out with the win.”
The final scoreline of the game was 198-208 in the Bulls’ favor. With the victory, the team is now sitting at a 3-0 record. Looking ahead, the Bulls have a home match against Archie Williams this week and are looking to improve their skills during another rainy week.
“The goal is to win MCALs and ultimately continue on to NCS,” Saluja said. “But right now we are taking it one day at a time and are constantly trying to get better.”
