Doordash offers new after-school food alternative

Branson has introduced a new way for students to enjoy food delivery meals on campus after 4 p.m.

The new food-delivery rule means that after regular school hours, students can order food to campus. The updated policy has garnered different reactions from the student body.

Before the new policy, students were never allowed to order food on campus and delivery services like DoorDash was banned no matter the time of day, Now, students can order food from nearby restaurants, which, for many, is more convenient and time-saving because they don’t have to go off campus for a meal. The development has had a generally good reaction among students.

“Sometimes I have activities at school that run late. DoorDash makes it easy for me to grab a quick meal without having to go out,” Semetri Carr ‘25 said,

The aim is to give students more options when it comes to snacks or late lunches. It is also part of a larger trend; many schools are trying to offer better food options to students, recognizing that students — and especially student-athletes — have varying schedules and might need a bite to eat between sports, a workout, or their commute back home. On-campus food delivery has been a significant help for many students.

“I usually study in the library or commons after school, and DoorDash helps me get a snack without leaving where I’m at. It’s a game-changer,” AJ Herman ‘25 said

The new rules for food delivery give students more freedom, providing convenience and variety in their food options after classes, and reflects Branson’s commitment to adapting to the changing needs of its students.

While many students are thrilled about the new option, others don’t believe it affects them or their schedules.

Charlie Miller ‘24, who typically heads home right after school, said, “It doesn’t really affect me because I don’t stay at school after it ends. But I don’t really mind it.
