Due to a recent change in rules, students are no longer required to stay on campus through to 3:20 p.m. and are able to leave as soon as classes end.
For Birdie Dillon ‘24, “this rule has made everything so much more convenient.” She said, “Specifically for athletes, I can finally leave with enough time to get a snack and not be rushed before practice.”
There are many athletes and artists at Branson, with rehearsals, practices, and other after-school activities. With this new change, more students’ schedules can be accommodated.
Stella Rieke ‘24 said, “I drive a carpool and park on campus, this new leave time makes the carpool and parking spot so much more worth it, I can leave as soon as class is over, and don’t have to worry about walking down to my car.
Students are encouraged to drive carpools because they can get parking spots on campus based on seniority, how many kids they drive and from how far.
The vans, used to transport students to and from the St. Anselm’s parking lot, will not be running earlier. If students want to leave, it is up to them to walk to their car, according to Todd Bickel, director of transportation.
A main reason for the removal of the rule was that it wasn’t being properly enforced or followed.
Head of School Chris Mazzola said, “I hate having rules that we don’t enforce nor follow. They are useless. So, students, you can now leave at 2:55 p.m. and on.”
