Branson girls varsity volleyball is off to a strong start again this season with a 12-5 record.
The team has had a streak of impressive wins over Archbishop Mitty, Marin Catholic and St. Francis, some of the highest ranked teams in the state, to begin the season. The team followed this up with an impressive performance in the highly competitive Durango Classic, placing 11th in the annual Las Vegas tournament.
Coming out of this important tournament, Maya Lehman ‘26 said, “We are very proud of how we played this weekend. We went against some of the best teams in the nation and I think we showed ourselves what we are capable of as a team. This has only motivated us further and I’m really excited to see where the rest of the season goes.”
The team has high hopes for the season, considering their success in the past couple of seasons, including a Division I state title and multiple Marin County Athletic League championships.
However, the team also knew it would take a lot to replace the talented group of seniors they lost this year, including two Division I players, Stanford’s Logan Tusher ’24 and Santa Clara’s Sadie Snipes ’24.
Regardless, “the seniors this year have done a phenomenal job stepping up to lead the team,” Lehman said.
The team has kept a lot of its talent from last year as well, with three all-MCAL honors recipients from last season: Lauren Dignan ’25, Elena Fisher ’25 and Celia Tolmie ’25, all returning for their senior year.
The team seeks success with the MCAL playoffs beginning during the week of Oct. 21.
