This Halloween, the Branson Halloween Committee, a group of students made up of members of each class’s representatives, introduced new activities for students to participate in throughout the day.
Sophomore class representative Hailey Sellers ’27 is one of the BHC members who helped plan the haunted house for students to visit during lunch. This is the first time in the last few years that Branson has had a haunted house.
“It wasn’t necessarily very spooky but everybody was laughing which means they had fun,” she said. “There were a lot of people that came by.”
Another Halloween activity the BHC put on was a costume contest. Students took photos of their costumes and emailed them to the Halloween committee for evaluation.
Students could win in four categories: best individual costume, best group costume, most creative costume and scariest costume.
Caroline Murr ‘28 submitted a photo dressed up with her friends as Vector, the Minions and Gru.
“[The Halloween costume contest] really bonded us and the grades together,” she said. “A fellow Minion got in the picture with us, even though she was a senior.”
Murr also spoke about how the contest made Halloween more exciting and welcoming, especially as somebody new to the school.
“It made everyone go all out with their costumes,” she said.
There was also a surprise flash mob during lunch. It featured dance teacher Alex Escalante and a performance team dancing to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”
The day’s Halloween-themed activities added to the spirited atmosphere on campus this year.
“It was very successful, and it added a lot of fun and spirit and community to Halloween,” said Murr.
