With the tradition of candy grams and in-class activities, Branson celebrates Valentine’s Day as an inclusive and fun-spirited holiday that every student can enjoy.
How does the long-standing celebration of this holiday on Branson’s campus make the students feel?
“Valentine’s Day at Branson is a fun and spirited day,” Cooper Little ‘26 said. “People get excited to share secret candy gram messages with each other, and it really makes the holiday feel special.”
Candy grams are a way for students to give candy and sweet messages to one another in honor of the holiday. It doesn’t have to be romantic, as many students use this as an opportunity to give special treats to their friends.
“Branson makes every holiday feel special,” Ella Rubenstein ‘27 said. “But when people bring the candy grams to each classroom on Valentine’s Day, I always see my friends get so excited as they read out the names on each candy gram — it really brings the community together.”
Branson’s tradition for Valentine’s Candy grams dates back to 1923 according to Branson’s archival photos.
Every year on Feb. 14, excitement bubbles through the school as the day is celebrated with pink hearts, paper doilies and candy treats.
“I just feel like Branson has been around for a long time, so they know how to make students feel special every once in a while when a holiday rolls around,” Rubenstein said.
