After months of planning, outfit hunting and anticipation, Branson students danced the night away at prom on April 26. Held at the Marin Art and Garden Center, the dance united upperclassmen while they celebrated the school year coming to a close.
Though prom itself was only one night, the behind-the-scenes work was anything but quick. The unforgettable event wouldn’t have been possible without the junior senate, who did their best to ensure that everyone enjoyed the night and that unforgettable memories would be made.
“We’ve been planning since the beginning of the year. We didn’t get to pick the venue, so that was figured out for us, but we have literally been ordering cupcakes for the last eight months,” said junior senate member Mallory Fischer ‘26. “We’ve spent every Tuesday since fall doing this, so seeing it come together was really satisfying.”
Junior senate member Luke Vilhauer ‘26 emphasized how the planning team did their best to make sure the night would be fun for everyone.
“I think we just made a variety of things available to do at prom, with the tents outside, the DJ, the photo booth. So prom was really what you made of it,” Vilhauer said.
With the range of activities offered, Branson students were given more control over how they spent their time at the dance.
“You didn’t have to be out there dancing for the whole night,” Vilhauer said. “You didn’t have to take photos, but there was space for whatever you wanted to do, and so I think a lot of people had fun in different ways.”
While the Senate focused on the logistics of the night, the rest of the upperclassmen eagerly awaited the special occasion, looking forward to dressing up with their friends and enjoying the evening with their classmates.
“I really liked seeing everyone at pre-prom because it’s the first time you get to see everyones dresses and you say hi to everyone, and it’s really nice,” said Lizzy Liu ‘25.
After attending pre-prom festivities, students headed over to the beautiful venue where they found masquerade themed decorations, cupcakes and activities.
“Even though the weather wasn’t great, prom was still a ton of fun. There were tables outside under a large tent, and inside the DJ, dance floor and photo booth were a hit,” said Whitney Collet ‘25.
While some danced their hearts out on the dance floor, others spent their time mingling in the crowd.
“It was really fun because you get to talk to a lot of different people including people you don’t normally talk to, so it was really great,” said Liu.
