The Branson girls’ basketball team is heading into the season with a handful of new freshmen and returning players, all with a fresh vibe and great optimism.
Returning player Barbara Hernandez ‘26 said that one of the team’s biggest goals is solidifying their defense, specifically, keeping opponents under 40 points.
“Defense is a huge focus for us this year,” she said. “If we stay positive and play together, we can do it.”
Lily Chaudhry ’29 has had a positive experience on the team so far.
“[I’m most excited about] getting better and becoming closer with her teammates throughout the season,” Chaudhry said.
Chaudhry also said how preseason practices and games have helped the team build chemistry, especially between upperclassmen and underclassmen.
“It has been great so far, and everyone has been really nice and inclusive,” Chaudhry said.
The official season begins right after Thanksgiving break. In the meantime, the team is set on staying connected, working hard, and building momentum as they move into the season.
“When we put our minds to something, we can make it happen,” Hernandez said.
