A tight first set gave way to a runaway second set as girls junior varsity volleyball defeated Novato in two sets Wednesday.

The 25-21, 25-9 victory for Branson at home perhaps marked a promising new chapter for the team. The junior Bulls paced Novato during the first set, but launched an offense during the second set that a faltering Novato couldn’t counter, failing to return the ball

“It felt great,” Olivia Ritter said. “In the second set, we were playing to our fullest potential, which was really great.”

After this win against Novato and Tuesday’s loss at Marin Catholic, the team plays another home game Friday, this time against Archie Williams.

“We definitely have a solid chance,” Ritter added.
